Observing International Menstrual Hygiene Day 2023 #withumantouch
28 May 2023
The stigmatization of menstruation as a subject is an undeniable and disheartening problem, especially in some rural sections of India. Its taboo nature, in turn, leads to a lack of knowledge, disinformation, and, ultimately, health issues. To counter this and to observe the International Menstrual Hygiene Day, we held an educational event and donation drive at a school in Faridabad. At the event, our volunteers first emphasized the need for cleanliness. Then, with the contributions of our event sponsor, Mrs. Geeta Batra (B. R. Batra Memorial Charitable Trust), we donated sanitary pads to the women in attendance. And finally, to reiterate the importance of what was learnt and to de-stigmatize the subject, we held an art contest.
